How wonderful – you’re thinking about Baptism (or Christening if you prefer) for you or your child! This means that you’re prepared to acknowledge that God really loves you and you want to follow the teachings of Jesus to learn more about this ‘love’ and how it can be shared with our neighbours.

Anyone can be baptised – but just note that your supporters (Godparents) will need to have been baptised before (the clue is in the name really – GOD-parent).

We do have enquiry evenings in the church hall on Tuesday evenings for parents to think about baptism or thanksgivings and to book dates. These start at 7.30pm. Just contact our Parish Administrator to find out what’s involved and the times when we can do this and one of our Team will come along for a brief visit.

The dates for our enquiry evenings for 2017 (which are held in our Church Hall, 14 Kidderminister Rd) are

  • January 9th
  • March 13th
  • May 8th
  • July 10th
  • September 11th
  • November 13th

And we as a church want you to grow and share in that love, so you can share it with others! And don't forget it’s FREE – because God’s love is FREE!

Adult Baptism (14+)

Getting baptised as an adult is the start of a new journey and we would like to give you the best start to that new journey with God. As an adult you will make choices to follow the way of life with Jesus and be part of his new community, the church.  To help with that start we would encourage you attend church regularly for at least 6 months, participate in a course that looks at the Christian Life and take part in at least one of the many activities of the church. Our hope is that this will help you to ask questions, find answers and experience and understand more of the love that God has for you.

If you are interested in finding out more the contact the vicar

A Note about Baptisms and St. John's School

The Admission policy at St. John's school does not require your child to be baptised, The faith criteria requires a family to be regular attenders (a minimum of once a month) at a church or other place of worship for at least 1 year before applying to the school. You do not have to use the faith criteria to apply to the school. St. John's School is for all members of the local community.
